By Bryan Thatcher, MD (Nov 3, 2011)
I recently received a check for $745 from a Eucharistic Apostles of Divine Mercy cenacle at St. Pius X Church in Broomall, Pa. The note said it was for the medical clinic in the Philippines that — God willing — we're hoping to build.

I wondered how the cenacle members raised the funds, and so I sent out an inquiry. Cenacle member Kathy Jacobson sent me the group picture seen above and an explanation.

Kathy told me that they ran a bake sale at the church after all the morning Masses. It was wonderful how everything came together, she said, as so many parishioners donated baked goods, and so many bought the baked goods, and others made cash contributions.

A local restaurant even donated their end-of-the-day homemade baked breads and bagels, and the entire work of mercy was a real "team effort."

I thought their fundraising effort was such a wonderful idea that I wanted to share it with you.

The group continues to live and learn the Divine Mercy message in a deeper way through their EADM cenacle, and were so pleased and happy to be able to assist in the effort to help the poor in the Philippines.
