MOMM without borders

Nov 30, 2006

Mother of Mercy Messengers (MOMM), a lay outreach of the Congregation of Marians of the Immaculate Conception, now has the ability to greatly lighten its load and take flight. That is to say, MOMM can now take its show overseas.

Since 1999, Dave and Joan Maroney of Mother of Mercy Messengers (MOMM) have been visiting churches and Catholic schools nationwide with a multimedia presentation that teaches the fundamental aspects of faith, Divine Mercy, and the power of prayer. A typical presentation requires a trailer full of props, lights, and a sound system that they pull around with a van.

But now, when it needs to, MOMM can fly to locations and give presentations without its full complement of equipment. Instead, MOMM has developed a presentation that uses a DVD player to project still images onto a screen. It also bought a small sound system that can be wheeled around.

"It's really exciting," says Joan. "I think it's really going to magnify and multiply the spreading of The Divine Mercy message."

"And not only the spreading of the message," adds Dave, "but the deepening of the understanding of the message."

MOMM did trial runs of its presentation in both England and Scotland a few months ago.

"It was very well received," says Dave. "We're planning on going back to Great Britain in the spring."

In addition to flying overseas, the Maroneys say they are now able to briefly break away from their road show to fly to the many conferences that request their presentations.
