As MOMM Turns 10, It Reaches Out to Youth

By Staff (Aug 19, 2011)

Since January 2001, Dave and Joan Maroney, known as Mother of Mercy Messengers (MOMM), an apostolate of the Marian Fathers, have traveled more than 250,000 miles to give their multimedia presentations on The Divine Mercy message at hundreds of parishes and schools.

This year, as MOMM celebrates its 10th anniversary, the apostolate marked the milestone of having reached more than 100,000 souls with its live, dramatic performances.

To reach even more souls, MOMM has developed DVDs and CDs that complement their live programs. These include a series for youth on DVD called Divine Mercy for Young Hearts, along with a CD-ROM and worksheets for application.

Evangelizing young people is a major goal for MOMM. As Dave says, "We have to meet them where they are. That is to say, this is the digital age. So handing kids the Diary of St. Faustina is not the place to start. That comes later. First, we have to pivot toward new technology and ways of communication that the youth have embraced."

So, with youth and other users of social media in mind, MOMM is now on Facebook and YouTube. "It's vital that the message of Divine Mercy gets to as many of our young people as possible," sums up Joan. "Here's to 10 more years."
