All are invited to the annual Divine Mercy Sunday Weekend celebration at the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Mass., on March 29-30.

For more than 25 years, the Marians of the Immaculate Conception have been welcoming the world to the Shrine to celebrate the Feast of Divine Mercy. Today, it is has grown into one of the most well-known and largest Divine Mercy Sunday celebrations in the country. There is truly nothing like quite like.

Father Anthony Gramlich, MIC, rector of the National Shrine, announced that this year's celebrant for the main Mass is Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, Archbishop Emeritus of Washington, D.C. Cardinal McCarrick also serves on three Vatican committees: the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, the Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Migrant and Itinerant Peoples, and the Pontifical Commission for Latin America.

This year promises a Mercy Sunday Weekend like no other. No, this doesn't refer to the unbelievable twists and turns of the weather, such as those that occurred during the past three celebrations, though pilgrims should prepare for any weather, from spring-like to dead-of-winter.

This year, the novelty on the March 29-30 weekend will be made of bricks and mortar, not snow and ice, as the Marians of the Immaculate Conception unveil their long-anticipated Mother of Mercy Outdoor Shrine.

Though not expected to be completely finished by Divine Mercy Sunday, the new outdoor shrine will be far enough along to provide a dignified shelter for celebrating Holy Mass during the weekend.

Carol Scott-Mahoney, pilgrimage director for the Marians, said pilgrims coming to Eden Hill should prepare for the mercurial spring weather of the Berkshires. Mud, rain, snow, ice, wind, sun — the temperamental weather can produce any of these. It's best to come well prepared.

Monitor the Stockbridge weather as best you can, dress warmly in layers, and be sure to wear comfortable shoes with good traction.

What is Mercy Sunday?
Our Lord revealed to St. Faustina His desire to flood us with His graces on this special day. He told St. Faustina: "On that day the very depths of My tender Mercy are open" (Diary of St. Faustina, 699).

Said Fr. Anthony, "On Divine Mercy Sunday every year, the divine floodgates really do open. We usually have the worst weather one can possibly imagine on that day. But the graces keep flowing for each one of us on that day."

What to Expect
Joining in fellowship with thousands of believers from around the world, pilgrims have two full days to partake of a wonderful selection of spiritual and educational activities.

On Saturday and Sunday, tents will be set up for prayer, various activities, and groups associated with the Marians. Look for tents for confessions (in many languages), Eucharistic Adoration, the Divine Mercy Gift Shop, and the Association of Marian Helpers.

Whether you are visiting the Shrine itself, the Lourdes Grotto, or the various statues and candle shrines on its 350-plus acreage, all pales in comparison with the celebration of Holy Mass. Two outdoor Masses will be celebrated: the Vigil Mass on Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday's Solemn Liturgy that begins at 1 p.m.

In addition, food will be available for purchase. There will also be first aid, bathrooms, and lots of helpful volunteers speaking different languages to make you feel at home.

EWTN's global cable network will, once again, provide live TV coverage of the Sunday Mass and other Divine Mercy Sunday activities.

Please register your bus group online or by calling 413-298-1118. If you are attending by car, you do not need to register. Got questions? Please call us at 413-298-1118.

Mary Johnson - Jan 27, 2008

15 years ago I came to the Shrine of Divine Mercy with my mother and said a novena for the birth of my son Anthony Johnson. A month later I conceived him. He is a true soldier in God's service. The Divine Mercy message has been spread through my and my mothers faith. At the moment of the pope's death we said the Divine Mercy prayer together. That night he came to her in her dream and told her to come along to heaven, she passed away at the moment Katrina hit New Orleans. It would be just like her to help those poor souls pass into heaven. She said the Divine Mercy Novena every day of her life after she became bedridden to help millions of souls get to heaven. God bless all of you for the graces of this Novena.

Divine Mercy Conference - Mar 3, 2008

I am wanting to go to the conference and only known about the Divine Mercy a few month ago. I don't know why but I feel that I need to go. This is not a trip for pleasure or something that I can just do. I haven't heard of anyone going from Montana and if you know of anyone please let me know. I don't have a place to stay yet or someone to pick me up at the airport. If you have any information please let me know. I have left this all up to the Lord if it is His will I will be there. Please pray for me. Tommie

I am a devout of the Divine Mercy for about three years. During May 2006 my mother was diagnosed with cancer. I prayed to St Faustina for her health and although my mother passed away in August of 2006 I realize that she has created a miracle for me. My mother during chemo never complained about pain. Even when I saw the blisters on her mouth and realized she was in a semi coma, I dont think she felt pain. The doctors would be surprised when she would always state she had no pain. And that I truly believe was St Faustinas greatest gift to my mother.

Trusting in God - Mar 27, 2008

I am praying that through this Divine Mercy week of prayer and Sunday's wonderful celebration that our son will quit smoking easily and forever; get a great job (or a promising career choice with the funds for school), and find the spouse God has chosen for him. Many, many know of his addiction to smoking and years lost trying to find good employment. The answer to these prayers
would be nothing short of a miracle, and I believe would spread the message of the Divine Mercy message to many, many people. (life changing for 1000's)

Rosemarie - Mar 29, 2008

Hello Lady whole posted a comment on March 8, 2008. I cried upon reading your story about your mom. We have about the same story. My mom just passed away last July 16, 2007 (Feast of Mt. Carmel) after diagnosed with one in a million cancer (LEIOMYOSARCOMA in the IVC). She is so devoted to our blessed mother, as well as The Divine Mercy. She has been praying the Rosary everyday as well as the Chaplet most of her life. Ever since she fell ill last December 2006 I have been her caregiver. March 2007 when she was diagnosed with the rare cancer. I have been her caregiver since. I quit my job and stayed by her side. We pray the Chaplet everyday as well as the Rosary. I remember clearly when the doctor told her that she has cancer, she just looked at him and said "Thank you Doc". The strength that gave her was incredible. Instead of her being disappointed with the news, she just laugh and COMPLETELY SURRENDER HERSELF TO GOD. It was amazing to see her. And as the youngest daughter age 27 ... there was this unexplainable feeling of how me, my brother and sister remained calm and have so much faith in god. I can only look back now and said how did we handle everything after learning the mother who taught us to be a good person and god fearing is dying. The cancer was not curable and resistant to chemo and radiation. GOD IS THE ONLY ANSWER. Doctors are good but god is THE GREATEST DOCTOR! To cut the story short, there was so many unexplainable things that happened that EVEN THE BEST DOCTORS OF NYU couldn't figure out. They were stunned when my mom was in comma and was able to talk and remember where she was and ABSOLUTELY NO PAIN! July 11 my mom was in comma and the doctor told us she would die that day ... in the afternoon or that night. WE ACCEPTED IT SINCE WE HAVE COMPLETE TRUST IN THE LORD. We never stopped praying ... July 12 she was still in comma and that night her favorite priest came who anointed her and he said to my mom "Hello Tata" WE WERE SHOCKED THAT SHE WAS ABLE TO OPEN HER EYES AND SAID ... "FATHER" and we all got up in our chairs and was in awe. No words can explain. And she said "I LOVE YOU ALL" and we all started crying. There was about 10 people in the room. I couldn't believe it was just happened. July 13 (Friday) I sat next to my mom around 12-1pm and I grab her hand and put it in my heart. I closed my eyes and began to pray and begging god to talk to me and tell me what is happening. I prayed the rosary, The Chaplet of The Divine Mercy, St. Peregrine. The next thing I know I started shaking and have no control of my body "I WAS SPEAKING TONGUES. My mom had a gift of tongue since she was in the healing ministry and I never experienced this before in my life. It took an hour and a half. My energy was drained after. The doctors witnessed what happened and turned away as well as two nurses. They were in awe. THE LORD TOOK AWAY ALL HER PAIN FOUR DAYS BEFORE SHE DIED which also what happened to Jacinta (Our Lady of Fatima). THE DOCTORS WERE STUNNED AND SAID "I HAVE NO MEDICAL EXPLANATION". July 16, I knew she was gonna die that day. God gave me a gift of discernment ... as a human being we want physical healing because we are afraid to die but god's will and way is different. He said if you want to follow me ... my way includes "DEATH AND SUFFERING". At 8pm I told everyone in the room to get up and start praying the Rosary and The Chaplet of the Divine Mercy. They thought I was crazy ... I said to them just keep on praying .... at 11:30pm MY MOM DIED WITH THE LORD AND IT WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL DEATH I HAVE EVER WITNESSED. GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND EVERY SUFFERING AND DEATH YOU ENCOUNTER ... IS GOD'S WAY FOR A DEEPER RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM. HE IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. WORSHIP HIS SON! I LOVE YOU ALL AND GOD BLESS.

This is an urgent prayer request for my family. I ask Our merciful Savior to please reach out and let my children, Kim, Allyson and especially Greg who is struggling in his Christian walk and has a broken heart because he feels that Jesus won't talk to him and or help the situations that he is praying for. He has given his life to the Lord and prays and read the bible all the time but is so disappointed because he doesn't experience the peace and love of Jesus. I have great devotion to Mercy and St. Faustina. Please place these young adults in the Heart of our merciful Jesus on Mercy Sunday. I wish I could be with you. Kathryn

Jason Burdette - Mar 29, 2008

Noella - Apr 1, 2008

I was present at the Divine Mercy celebrations two years ago, all the way from Canada. It was such a wonderful and holy experience, the only drawback being the continuing chill and rainfall.
It would be a very good idea to have overhead tarps installed, knowing that year after year, being spring, rain is a given. I am sure donations are plentiful to cover the one-time cost, or even occasional upkeep. Please take this as constructive critism.
