We kick off Lent with a homily from the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
The Very Rev. Fr. Kazimierz Chwalek, MIC, the provincial superior of the Marians in the United States and Argentina, offers tips on how to get off the path of self-destruction. We can undo works of evil through works of mercy, he says. We can embrace the sacraments. We can fast in the traditional sense, but also we can fast from things that wound others and ourselves.
Lent, says Fr. Kaz, is a time to cleanse and strengthen ourselves.
"The world needs us," he says.
