"I'm so grateful that Dr. Mark Miravalle wrote this book; there's such a need for it. During my travels, I meet so many people who are just awakening to the idea of Mary as their m... Read more
Mother of God, Mother of Mine
A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars ... Then the dragon became angry with the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring, those who keep God's commandments and bear witness to Jesus — Rev 12:1, 17.
Because Mary is Mother of God, she is Queen of heaven and earth.
Because Mary is Mother of God, she is the New Eve, Mother of All the Living.
Because Mary is Mother of God, she is the mother of all the children of God, now and forever.
All of Mary's special titles and prerogatives can be traced back to her place in the divine plan of God as Mother of the Son. She who was to be invited to be the Mother of the Son was prepared from the moment of her conception for that great, unheard-of honor. All grace that enters the world comes through Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ came into the world through His mother. From her, He received the body, blood, and soul of His humanity, which He will have in glory in eternity, and which was the source of our salvation.
By the Incarnation of the Son, humanity is offered a way into the family of God again, a restored sonship for all. We may become sons in the Son if we say yes to God's grace. We may become partakers of the divine nature because Jesus became a partaker of human nature through Mary (see 2 Pet 1:4).
All this and more through the Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which the Church honors with a feast on Oct. 11.
So let us ask Mary, God's mother and ours, to pray for us all, that the whole of humanity may be converted, saved, and sanctified. Let us trust her maternal love and protection, consecrating ourselves to Mary, the Mother of God, so that she may lead us in the paths of righteousness and peace, all in the service of her Son, Jesus.
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve: to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus, O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Pray for us, oh holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
