Once again, I was called to volunteer in Medical Hospitality for the entire weekend. As a nurse and a devout supporter of the Message of Divine Mercy, I treasure the moments I spend there every year! Because of the nature of our work, we, as Health Care Professionals, are not able to participate in the awesome liturgies and events going on all around us. We are focused on one thing ....bringing the love of Jesus to those who have traveled to worship. These people travel from far and near. Sometimes, medical needs bring them to our ministry. It is an awesome calling! We are hidden in the Medical Hospitality section. We are unable to participate in the liturgies, the worship, the joy and the holiness going on just outside our doors! However, Jesus is within our walls! In that place love and mercy is in abundance. I do not believe that any pilgrim makes this trip expecting to require medical care. However, they come to us and we minister to them! In the very busy times, we minister to the sick and suffering among us. In the quiet times ...we minister to each other. Among us, we share our own challenges, faith, doubts and pains in a way that is beyond explanation. I have volunteered for this work for many years. It is HOLY. It is anointed by the Holy Spirit. There, we see people just as they are,. No pretense, just Gods' beloved people, just as they are! What a great gift they give to us! People find healing with us. We are not the healers. Jesus is the only healer among us! We are so very grateful to be used as His healing hands. He, Himself shows us what the problems are and he uses us to be the vehicles of His love and mercy! Yes, we miss the liturgies. We miss the worship. We miss the songs and the praise. However, the things that happen in our simple ministry are things of awe among us! Our role in the mission of Mercy is but a small one. However, my heart sings for the people I meet there! I am eternally praising Jesus for opening up this ministry to me.
