Eucharistic Apostles of The Divine Mercy

EADM helps rebuild Rwanda

Father Seraphim Michalenko, MIC, and Dr. Bryan Thatcher, MD, of Eucharistic Apostles (EADM) visited Rwanda in early December 2004 to visit the proposed site for an Adoration Chapel, Formation House, Retreat Center, and Pilgrim’s center for Kibeho, Rwanda. They also saw the 18-foot one-ton statue of Divine Mercy that Eucharistic Apostles helped ship to Rwanda, as well as clothing, religious items, and medical supplies for the local people. EADM also raised needed monies to purchase a microscope for the medical clinic in Kibeho. This was sorely needed to aid in the diagnosis of many medical problems endemic there.

A village of 20,000 people, Kibeho was the site of Church approved apparitions of Our Lady over twenty years ago. The Blessed Mother spoke of the need for conversion and love or there would be "rivers of blood," and ten years later the country experienced a terrible civil war and genocide with nearly one million people killed. Kibeho is also the site of the national genocide museum. "It was no coincidence that Kibeho was the site of the apparition and years later the genocide museum," said Bryan.

Father Leszek Czelusniak, MIC, is working hard to make the project dream a reality. He already has seen how the people visit the statue and pray with deep fervor. "I believe that the statue will bring much healing to the people. They have suffered so much from the war, and the statue is a daily reminder of God’s mercy and love for the people."

EADM has assisted in raising funds for an Adoration Chapel where people will pray for the sick and dying. However, monies are needed to build a Formation House, Retreat Center, and Pilgrim Center. There is a hope and dream that Kibeho may one day become the Lourdes or Fatima of Africa. Please pray for us and assist us in our efforts!
