What Does It Mean to Be Catholic?

Are members of the Catholic Church different in terms of belonging, than members of a secular group or organization?  And, is the doctrine and Tradition of the Catholic Church essential, or peripheral, in answering this question?  Father Kenneth Dos Santos, MIC, explains in his latest column for CatholicStand.com.
