Ash Wednesday General Audience

On March 6, 2019, Ash Wednesday, to his general audience in St. Peter's square in Vatican City, Pope Francis continued his catechesis on the Our Father.

He focused on the line "Thy kingdom come." He said, "Jesus has come, and there are multiple signs of the kingdom, yet the world is still marked by sin and the hearts of many remain closed."

He said that God's Kingdom emerges slowly, because He is patient and gentle. "For it is like a grain of mustard seed, which, though tiny, grows into a mighty tree. The Lord always surprises us! Pope Francis encouraged the faithful to implore the Lord for the coming of His Kingdom, offering our sins and failures on behalf of those most in need.
