Is Pope Francis a Heretic? Well, No ...

I am well aware from the outset that this article (and the one that will follow it) will please no one. Much like the political situation in the United States today, the Catholic Church in our country has become polarized between so-called liberals and so-called conservatives. In the case of the Church, it's between pro-Francis "liberals" and anti-Francis "conservatives," and any attempt at a judicious evaluation of this pontificate is bound to lead to howls of protest from both sides.

But it cannot be helped.

It's Time to Talk

Probably no issue in America today causes Catholics more confusion than the issue of homosexuality. Gay marriage has been approved by the Supreme Court, annual gay pride parades take place in major cities across the country, and sympathetic treatment of those with same-sex attraction permeates the media and entertainment industries.

The Holy Year of Mercy

There's nothing abstract about this extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy, which runs from Dec. 8, 2015, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, to Nov. 20, 2016, the Solemnity of Christ the King.

This year is about discovering new life in ourselves and in our neighbor.

Here's a special presentation on the extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy with Archbishop Salvatore Fisichella, president of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization.
