4th World Apostolic Congress on Mercy opens in Manila

The 4th World Apostolic Congress on Mercy opened in Manila, Philippines, yesterday. The Very Rev. Fr. Kazimierz Chwalek, MIC, the provincial superior of the Marian Fathers in North America and Argentina; Fr. Seraphim Michalenko, MIC, the vice-postulator for the Canonization of St. Faustina; and Nurse Marie Romagnano of Healthcare Professionals for Divine Mercy are in attendance and reporting from the events. Father Kaz writes:

Marian Missionaries Make a Plea for Disaster Relief

EDITOR'S NOTE: Visit our Philippines' mission blog for continuing updates on our Marian missionaries' efforts to aid victims of the Dec. 16-17 typhoon in the Philippines. The deadly typhoon has left thousands without shelter, food and water. The area hit hardest is Cagayan de Oro, home of the Marians' Divine Mercy mission.

Can We Help?

While I was growing up, my father used to tell me about the holiness of Blessed Padre Pio and how my uncle had a tremendous conversion during World War II after attending one of his Masses. I remember as a young doctor reading with fascination about how Blessed Padre Pio helped build a hospital for the needy in his area. I was fascinated how this holy priest who was so committed to saving souls also took time to do the corporal works of mercy by trying to address the medical needs of the locals.
