Each Name Has a Story

Two giant angel statues flank the entrance. Tranquil music accompanied by the echo of falling water fills the air. Colorful tiles, containing the names of hundreds of deceased sons and daughters, cover the walls.

And each name held by this sacred memorial contains a story.

His Heart Beats for Divine Mercy

Charles Yezak Sr. did not begin to grasp the depth of God's Divine Mercy until his heart almost stopped beating.

Charles and his wife, Nellie, hail from Marlin, Texas. These cradle Catholics initially met as children when they made their First Holy Communion together. They reconnected in high school and are now approaching their 52nd year of marriage.

Nellie had always been a fervent Catholic. But Charles, for many years, stressed by the need to provide for his wife and three children, did not make prayer a priority.

Rededication of the Holy Family Shrine

The new Holy Family Shrine on Eden Hill, home of the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy, was dedicated on Oct. 14, 2017. Renovations began on what was previously called "The St. Joseph Shrine" in the Spring of 2016. These renovations included new memorial windows, a new statue, new prayer gardens, doubling the interior area of the shrine, and tripling the canopy area.
