They Come to Serve! Meet the Marians' Two New Deacons

In the Crypt Church underneath the massive structure that is the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, two Marian seminarians were ordained to the transitional diaconate. This is their last step before ordination to the sacred priesthood which will take place for these two men, God-willing, next year.

He's Grateful

Father Allen Alexander, MIC, has been at parishes in Kenosha, Wisconsin, for the past three years. His new assignment, helping Marians in formation, brings him back to his alma mater. Hear why he's grateful.

More than a 'Plain' Ordination

In the rolling plains of a farm town in Iowa, Deacon Joseph Lappe, MIC, was ordained to the sacred priesthood in the same parish where he was baptized.

The Most Reverend R. Walker Nickless, Bishop of Sioux City, Iowa, presided at the Holy Mass of Ordination on the morning of Saturday, July 28, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Willey, Iowa - where the newly ordained Fr. Joseph grew up.

In his homily before a packed church, Bishop Walker emphasized the rarity of presiding at an Ordination in a priest's home parish.

Meet 'the Postrunner'

The following is by Br. Christopher Orante, MIC, a Marian seminarian living in Steubenville, Ohio:

For the past two or three years now, I have been blessed to be able to serve with the Liturgy Committee during the Steubenville Conferences on Main Campus. I was usually the thurifer (the server with the incense) for Mass and Adoration/processions. It was always a beautiful experience to be able to pave the way for the Lord to come into the hearts of the youth and adults at the conferences with the incense.
