"Amen, I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you" (Mt 17:20).
On Oct. 28, we commemorate Sts. Simon and Jude, Apostles and Martyrs, two men who walked with Jesus, died for Jesus, and were probably related to Jesus. As Apostles, they were men who had seen impossible things. They were present for the miracles of Jesus, witnessed the Resurrection and Ascension, and then received the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. These men had many reasons to believe, many reasons to go forth and proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ with parrhesia, with the evangelical boldness Pope Francis repeatedly calls for.
And we have many reasons to turn to them, to entrust our lives, our needs, our wants, and our fears to their intercession, to ask these fathers in the faith to pray for us always before our Father in heaven, for the prayers of the righteous are mighty in their effects (see Jas 5:16).
So turn to Sts. Simon and Jude, witnesses to the impossible become real through the Person of Jesus Christ, for all your needs, including the most desperate and difficult. Ask these Apostles to bring grace and peace into your life, that you may follow Jesus Christ faithfully and with love all the days of your life.
