Eucharistic Apostles of The Divine Mercy

Samoan Islands

The first international group of Eucharistic Apostles was formed in Apia, Western Samoa, in 1996 with the blessing of Cardinal Pio Taofinuú.

Here Cardinal Taofinuú is seen with Dr. Bryan Thatcher of the Tampa Cenacle, receiving "Mary, Mother of the Eucharist," by artist Tommy Canning of Glasgow, Scotland.

Since then, numerous groups have formed on the main island and on the island of Savaii. Rev. Lui Sanele is Spiritual Director for the Immaculate Conception Cathedral Cenacle at Mulivai.

Father Iosefo (far right) guides the cenacles on Savaii.

The Message of Divine Mercy has taken hold in the Polynesian Islands in a big way, and members have a deeper appreciation of God's mercy, the great gift of the Eucharist, and of Mary, Mother of Mercy.

Members are visiting the sick and praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet. They often wear their native dress imprinted with the logo of Eucharistic Apostles. Reports of personal conversions, converts to Catholicism, and families being healed through The Divine Mercy are abundant. The islands are on FIRE with the mercy of God!

Even High Chief Iiga Vui Siaosi Talitimu is a Eucharistic Apostle of The Divine Mercy!

Youth groups are actively involved in evangelization, and the Moamoa cenacle performs a beautiful dance at retreats using the song "We are One Body in Christ." "Youth evangelizing other youth about the Eucharist is most encouraging," says Leutogi Siemsen, one of the lay leaders in the islands.

The Divine Mercy was introduced to American Samoa in February 1998 by member Alesana Alalatoa and was well received. Groups have formed in several parishes, all with the blessing and approval of Bishop Quinn Wetzel.
