Arizona

The group of Eucharistic Apostles of The Divine Mercy in Apache Junction, Arizona meets at St. George Parish and now has over 100 members. Father Uriel Umali, a priest in residence from the Philippines, attends the Hour of Eucharistic Adoration and shares with the group his experience of Divine Mercy in the Philippines.

The original group of six started gathering in prayer on June 24, 1994, the Feast of The Sacred Heart of Jesus. Members have received many affirmations, and currently meet weekly to pray and share how God's mercy has been active in their lives in the prior week. Members are active in the local Church, serving as Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, home visitors, Catechists, RCIA Instructors, Rosary Makers, and more.

Doris Duff, facilitator for the group, said "some of us have been invited to other parishes to help them start cenacles there, while our seasonal members take home their gifts for groups in their area. Wherever there is a call, someone has been able to respond. Even our homebound serve through their prayers. Our younger members are encouraged to start up cenacles with their school friends. And although through our efforts our parish families have benefited, we believe the greatest benefit is to ourselves. Our spiritual growth has increased tremendously, and we thank the Merciful King for making all this possible!"

This group of Eucharistic Apostles is a beautiful example of laity meeting to learn the Faith and then living the love of Jesus!
