As we commemorate the First Martyrs on June 30, let us not forget that today, more than ever before, our brothers and sisters in Christ are going home to God because of their fidelity to the faith which saves.

On a Corpus Christi Sunday several years ago, the Very Rev. Chris Alar, MIC, declared, "God once in awhile gives a sign, and man did He give a sign!"

If you want hearts afire, then Pentecost, celebrated on Sunday, June 5, is the feast for you.

Let St. Teresa of Avila, a Doctor of the Church, teach you the power of prayer.

"My mission - to make God loved - will begin after my death," she said. "I will spend my heaven doing good on earth. I will let fall a shower of roses."

It's the Blessed Mother's birthday! And what could be more appropriate than a cake?

Follow God's example. Love Mary and trust her with everything you've got.

We are to become faithful brothers of Jesus, faithful children of Mary.

Such is the life, the work, and the heart of a person who has given everything to Mary.

It was Mary who oversaw Ignatius's transformation of life.
