I just have to tell you the beautiful story of Divine Mercy and the way it has affected my granddaughter Kara. She is 16 years old and has Down's syndrome.

Nearly always, I pray the Chaplet of The Divine Mercy at 3 o'clock, the Hour of Great Mercy. Kara has often seen me do this. Consequently, she began to take interest in what I was doing. In fact, she took such an interest in the Chaplet that she would go get her rosary and join me in praying.

What began as a curiosity has turned into a practice, and now, even when I am not there, her mom puts on the television for Kara to pray. Sure enough, almost without fail, Kara gets her rosary beads at 3 p.m. and prays the Chaplet.

Coming home from school just before 3 p.m., her first stop is the TV - not to watch cartoons or other such programming but to pray the prayer Jesus taught St. Faustina. After she finishes, she enjoys a snack and begins tackling her homework. Even on Saturday and Sunday, Kara loves to pray the Chaplet in song.

Kara's innocence and prayerful attitude is a great source of inspiration, comfort, and consolation for me. I know that the merciful Father is with her. May Jesus, The Divine Mercy, help her in all her special needs throughout her entire life.

Jesus, I trust in You!!

They are living images of My Compassionate Heart. These souls will shine with a special brightness in the next life. Not one of them will go into the fire of hell. I shall particularly defend each one of them at the hour of death."
