The Lady God Loves

On Feb. 11, the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, we pray especially for the sick and the dying, those whom Our Lady came to heal through the miraculous waters of Lourdes. But we also commemorate the Immaculate Conception, the woman who said yes to God after God fell in love with her.

If you want to love God, then learn to love what He loves. Above all other creatures, He loves His mother Mary, though He loves all the works of His hands.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him might not perish but might have eternal life. - Jn 3:16

And the Son so loves the world that He sends us His Mother. Again and again down through the ages of Christian history she comes, visiting a garbage dump here, raising up a miraculous healing spring there, interceding and nudging and guiding and guarding and watching over her children with a mother's love. We are never quite alone, you see, for we are all members of the Body of Christ, all one in the life and love of the Trinity, all bound together by the Holy Spirit of God. And that Body of Christ was birthed into this world by the Woman clothed with the sun, with the moon at her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head (see Rev 12:1-5). That Body of Christ was birthed into this world through Mary, the Mother of God (see Lk 2:6-7, 11), and is born through her again and again into every age of history and every part of the world.

If you consecrated to Jesus through Mary today, we'd love to hear your story. Please take a moment and share your journey with us. If you have pictures, we'd love to see them, too. Just email them to HAPP@Marian.org!
