In Memory of Fr. Seraphim, MIC

I wish to tell you that our beloved Fr. Seraphim passed away on February 11, 2021, Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, as a result of complications from Covid-19 at the age of 90. As a Marian of the Immaculate Conception, this is a very special day for all Marians.

It was Our Lady of Lourdes who, in 1858, appeared to St. Bernadette Soubirous and identified herself thusly: “I am the Immaculate Conception.” I had the privilege of knowing Fr. Seraphim for 37 years and was his nurse and at his bedside via iPad video for those final hours.

Fr. Seraphim was so enthusiastic about teaching Healthcare Professionals about the depths of Gods mercy and how to put it into practice. As the Director of the Marian Helpers Center, he decided to print the first book on the practical application of The Divine Mercy message and devotion for nurses Nursing With the Hands of Jesus: A Guide to Nurses for Divine Mercy, special educational materials for healthcare and Divine Mercy, and was a speaker at all 16 of our Divine Mercy Medicine, Bioethics and Spirituality conferences.

He made it a special point to single out healthcare professionals and helped us to form the Healthcare Professionals for Divine Mercy to include all healthcare professionals and was a dynamic and powerful speaker and mentor for all of us.

Thank you for honoring Fr. Seraphim’s life. We will miss him but are consoled that he went to heaven into the arms of Our Lady on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes.
