Simple Invite Provides Proof of a Heart Transformed through 33 Days!

In a simple invitation to an upcoming Consoling the Heart of Jesus retreat, a leader and participant of the 33 Days to Morning Glory pilot gives a heart-felt testimony to her pastor and friends. Although written to simply share the joy of her experience with the Hearts Afire: Parish-based Programs for the New Evangelization with a few friends, this letter worth sharing with anyone looking to know "What's in it for me?"

Dear Friends,

Participating in the pilot program for "33 Days to Morning Glory" my life was impacted. Although a beautiful exercise, I struggled through St. Louis de Montfort's "Consecration to Jesus through Mary" three times before. This version of Consecration ("33 Days to Morning Glory") drew me into daily personal reflection, challenging my thinking, breaking through some obstacles I did not know existed. Through meeting in small groups, individuals encounter a personal transformation through deepening understanding of our Blessed Mother and her unique role of drawing even hardened souls to her Son.

Having studied the Bible for years through various Bible study programs, this Hearts Afire: Parish-based Program (HAPP) is a wonderful way to continue spiritual growth. Actually, the Bible studies educated and catechized us, but these ancient spiritual exercises of St. Louis de Montfort ("33 Days to Morning Glory") and St. Ignatius of Loyola ("Consoling the Heart of Jesus") updated for society of 2012, are the most challenging for me, personally. They call us to change the way modern society views the world. They call us to action. The Holy Spirit has challenged me through these spiritual exercises to embrace not just the spiritual, but the corporal works of mercy. In our self centered society, we have a great need for renewing our outlook of Christian life, moving us out of the church (once we are filled up) to empty ourselves in the streets, serving our brothers and sisters in the world. Learning about "true compassion" is a foundation I have needed.

I am a great fan of what God is doing through the HAPP program.

St. Catherine of Siena, Kennesaw, is hosting Fr. Gaitley in June 22 and 23. We would love for you to attend our retreat so that you can see Fr. Gaitley and hear about this awesome ministry setting hearts afire (HAPP)!

Blessings,

Kathy McLean
