Two Key Tips for Growing in Faith

I want to prepare my heart for the coming of the Lord Jesus by silence and recollection of spirit, uniting myself with the Most Holy Mother and faithfully imitating her virtue of silence, by which she found pleasure in the eyes of God Himself. I trust that, by her side, I will persevere in this resolution.

Here, St. Faustina points out two key tips for growing in faith. We need moments of silence and we need our Blessed Mother.

Through silence we cultivate prayer and holiness. We foster listening to God and discerning His will. May we hereby vow to give silence a place in our lives, particularly during these days leading up to Christmas. Turn off the TV. Turn off your cell phone. Rise early or stay up late. Take a walk in the woods, or better still, go into a church. And pray, pray, pray.

Pray to Our Blessed Mother, asking her help. We can and should turn to her in all of our needs and worries. Through her we can nurture Christ in our hearts. She will lead us to her Son. We need only speak to her as we would a closest confidante, keeping in mind the words of the "Memorare": Remember, most loving Virgin Mary, never was it heard that anyone who turned to you for help was left unaided. ..."

In silence, she's listening.
