O God, how much I desire to be a small child. You are my Father, and You know how little and weak I am. So I beg You, keep me close by Your side all my life and especially at the hour of my death. Jesus, I know that Your goodness surpasses the goodness of a most tender mother.

Recently, I felt my unborn niece move inside my sister-in-law's womb. We had been chatting away until I felt a strong pressure from within her slide across my palm as my hand rested on her stomach. It was more than just a kick, and it was incredible. I started thinking about this little life. She did not exist months ago, but now she'll exist forever. Her immortal soul will exist for all eternity. And for all eternity her mom will be her mom. Similarly, God is my Father, and according to John Paul II, this is a "bond still more intimate" than that of Creator. God will be my Father forever, no matter how many times I stamp my foot or shake my fist at Him. With the simplicity of a child I must rely on God for all things, even when it seems like He doesn't listen. Maybe in those times I'll just keep asking, sometimes asking loudly. (And then again, maybe I should be quiet and listen.) All in all, when the day comes and my niece is able to express her hunger or discomfort at ear-splitting decibels, her every cry will be answered and every need anticipated with a love and gentleness she can't even imagine.
