'People Need to get Back on Their Knees and Pray'

I was brought up Catholic. My aunt and uncle introduced me to the Rosary when I was very young. My parents didn’t go to Church, but they were religious in their own way, making sure we received our Sacraments.

I said my Rosary in high school just about every day. Then I got married young, and I got away from the faith for a bit. You make mistakes in your 20s. My Mass attendance became sporadic, but I started going more when I sent my children to Catholic school. My husband started to go with me as well, which is what I had always wanted.

With the pandemic, I came to realize that the world needs prayers now more than ever. This is the time people need to get back on their knees and pray.

I know a couple of people who are non-Catholic Christians. We often have conversations about our differences in faith. One of these conversations led me to find a video on YouTube by Fr. Chris Alar, MIC, about the end times. Now, I listen to Fr. Chris all the time. I have never felt so blessed to find Fr. Chris Alar’s “Explaining the Faith” series. Now I feel so blessed to be a Catholic. I am 59 years old and have learned more in six weeks than I have my whole life being Catholic! I am so in love with my Catholic faith since I have been listening to Fr. Chris. I have been sharing all his videos with as many family members as possible.

I can’t begin to explain how excited Fr. Alar’s talks make me feel. I feel so grateful to God. I can’t wait to go to Confession after hearing Fr. Chris’ talk about the subject. I took notes and was happy that someone finally explained in plain language how God will forgive you when all you have to do is turn to Him and know how much He loves you! I thank God for Fr. Chris’ beautiful soul and his ability to teach us all in layman’s terms. He’s helped so many people understand how blessed we are to be Catholic.

God bless you, Marian Fathers. Thank you for your love of others and Jesus. Thank you for your sacrifices. God bless you, and I will never stop praying for you every day. s

A weekly web series by Fr. Thaddaeus Lancton, MIC, introduces us to the meditations for this Sunday's Mass by the Marian Founder. The goal is to allow Jesus to gaze into your heart and teach you self-examination, leading you to a more fruitful reception of Holy Communion at Sunday Mass, where there is a true encounter of our hearts with His Sacred Heart – especially fitting during this period of National Eucharistic Revival.

On his feast day (April 25), let St. Mark the Evangelist introduce you to Jesus. Read the Gospel of Mark today, a brilliant piece of writing.

“Now hold on,” Chris Sparks imagines some folks saying, “loving the annoying is one thing, but loving the evil people, the truly wicked who do unspeakable things to myself, my family, or the innocents of the world — HOW???” Jesus shows us the way, of course.
