Do you have departed loved ones for whom you wish us to pray?
We’d be pleased to do so.
Drawing upon a founding charism of the Marian Fathers to come to the aid of the Holy Souls in Purgatory, we will be hosting a special evening of prayer, reflection, worship, and intercession on Thursday, Nov. 19. It will be livestreamed from the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy beginning at 7 p.m. (EST).
You can watch the livestream on the following platforms: TheDivineMercy.org, YouTube.com/MarianHelpers, or facebook.com/DivineMercyOfficial.
Please send us the name or names of those dearly departed loved ones for whom you wish us to pray. To do so, visit marian.org/departed. We will place their names on the altar. The evening will include Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, a brief talk, music, and intercessory prayer.
“Let us pray for your departed loved ones, and you can join us in praying for them through watching the livestream. It’ll be powerful,” said Fr. Chris Alar, MIC, director of the Association of Marian Helpers. He will host the evening along with Br. Jason Lewis, MIC.
The special evening comes in the middle of November, the month the Church dedicates to the Holy Souls in Purgatory — those who die in God’s friendship, assured of eternal salvation in Heaven, but who must first undergo purification.
Because souls in Purgatory cannot pray for themselves, the Church teaches about the need for the faithful to offer our sacrifices, prayers, corporal and spiritual works of mercy, and almsgiving for the release of the Holy Souls in Purgatory. Our prayers can speed their time in Purgatory.
As the Founder of the Marian Fathers, St. Stanislaus Papczynski (1631-1701), said, “Pray, brethren, for the souls in Purgatory, for they suffer unbearably.”
Visit marian.org/departed to submit the names of those for whom you wish us to pray.
